ENROLMENT UPDATES

Primary school enrolments  - 2023 update

We are currently unable to accept out of zone enrolments. This includes enrolment under the specialist pathway.

For 2023 ‘within zone’ enrolments and all 2024 new enrolment enquiries, please complete an EOI at this link.

Availability of places for our specialist pathway for 2024 will be determined by the 20th November, 2023 and communicated on our school website. Please see section 2024 Enrolment Management Implementation Plan for further details.

2024 Enrolment Management Implementation Plan

Due to high enrolment demand, the Department of Education has provided Armstrong Creek School with an Enrolment Management Implementation Plan for the 2024 school year. This means we are unable to accept enrolment applications from primary-aged students who live outside our school zone unless:

  • they already have a sibling attending Armstrong Creek School
  • they meet the criteria for our specialist enrolment pathway (subject to the availability of places).

The availability of places in our specialist enrolment pathway will be determined in Term 4 2023, once in-zone enrolments have been confirmed. If you would like your child to be considered for a place in our specialist enrolment pathway for 2024, you are invited to submit an Expression of Interest.

Enrolment applications remain open for secondary-aged students who meet our specialist enrolment eligibility criteria regardless of whether they live within our school zone.

Our school zone

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.

Students residing within our school zone, based on their permanent residential address, are guaranteed a place at our school.

Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.

Foundation (Prep) enrolments

The Department of Education (DE) has a statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.

The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Armstrong Creek School.

You can find information and resources about the enrolment timeline and procedures at: Enrolling in Foundation (Prep).

Armstrong Creek School – specialist enrolment pathway

Armstrong Creek School provides a specialist enrolment pathway for students with disability and high needs who have a mild intellectual disability. Our Enrolment Policy sets out the eligibility criteria for the specialist enrolment pathway.

In the primary year levels, all students participate in inclusive learning programs and school activities together, regardless of their enrolment pathway. Armstrong Creek School ensures that appropriate supports and accommodations are provided to all students. This is determined on a whole school, year level, class and individual basis, according to identified need and availability of resources.

At the end of Year 6, students who continue to meet the specialist enrolment criteria may attend secondary education at Armstrong Creek School or, if preferred, transition to another secondary school or a specialist school (subject to enrolment eligibility).

Students who meet the criteria for our specialist enrolment pathway may be eligible for bus transport if they live within our designated transport area. You can use the following link to determine whether your address falls within our designated transport area: Designated transport area search tool

Enrolment process and documentation

Prior to a student being enrolled at Armstrong Creek School, parents or guardians are requested to fill in an Enrolment Expression of Interest form to determine eligibility.
Once eligibility has been confirmed, prospective families will be emailed all the required enrolment documentation.

Enrolment inquiries that do not meet the enrolment criteria will also be advised via email.
Please find below a list of all the documents required to proceed with enrolment:

  • Student Enrolment Form – students commencing Prep or transferring from interstate, overseas or an independent school will need to fill out an Enrolment Form.  Students transferring from a Victorian Government School will have their enrolment data electronically transferred between schools.
  • Copy of Birth Certificate
  • Copy of Immunisation Certificate – official document from Australian Immunisation Centre
  • Proof of Residence – utility bill, rates notice, tenancy/sales agreement
  • Additional information if required. E.g. Evidence of acceptance under Program for Students with a Disability (PSD) with a primary condition of Intellectual Disability (ID) with an IQ between 50 – 70

For the wellbeing of your child and the convenience of the school staff, please ensure that the following information on the enrolment form is kept up-to-date:

  • Family Doctor
  • Emergency contact numbers

It is also necessary for parents to ensure that any custodial information is presented during enrolment.  Custody papers must be presented to the Administration Officer and the school will also need to keep a copy of this documentation – this is kept strictly confidential.  The custodial parent is asked to ensure that all necessary accurate information is given when enrolling.
