Auslan

Auslan at Armstrong Creek School

At Armstrong Creek School, we are proud to offer Auslan (Australian Sign Language) as part of our dynamic and inclusive curriculum. Learning Auslan is more than just mastering a new language, it’s about building connections, enhancing communication skills, and fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect.

Aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, our Auslan program empowers students to:

✨ Develop a second language that strengthens cognitive skills, memory, and problem-solving.
✨ Enhance communication by learning to express ideas visually and non-verbally.
✨ Foster inclusivity by promoting understanding and engagement with the Deaf community.
✨ Build confidence through expressive and interactive learning experiences.
✨ Improve fine motor skills through signing and finger spelling.

Auslan is an exciting and interactive subject that connects with other learning areas like Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and Physical Education, allowing students to express creativity, explore storytelling, and engage in movement-based activities in a whole new way.

By learning Auslan, our students gain valuable skills that extend beyond the classroom, helping them become empathetic, open-minded, and confident communicators in an ever-evolving world.
